Event Branding // Campaign design // Experiential DesignCamundaCon 2022
CamundaCon 2022 was Camunda’s first-ever hybrid conference and its first major in-person event since the start of the pandemic. The event brought approximately 2,260 attendees together across Berlin and a custom virtual experience, with 360 onsite attendees and 1,900 virtual participants.
As a brand designer on Camunda’s in-house creative team, I partnered closely with marketing and events to build an energetic, memorable event identity and carry it across every touchpoint, from digital promotion and social content to conference signage, swag, stage environments, and the live-stream experience.
I took the lead on the event’s visual theme and played a key role in messaging and copywriting, while also owning a large portion of the print design, production coordination, and on-site brand execution.

Approach
-
Bold, Artistic Branding
Inspired by Berlin’s ultra-urban, graffiti-covered landscape, I helped develop a visual direction that felt energetic, imperfect, and distinctly tied to the city. Custom graffiti textures, ripped-poster treatments, bold photography, and hand-drawn elements gave the event a visual language that felt more like Berlin than a traditional corporate conference.
The goal was to celebrate Camunda’s return to in-person events while creating an identity that felt fresh enough to set the tone for future CamundaCon conferences.
-
End-to-End Cohesion
The event identity had to work everywhere, from a website banner and social ad to a stage backdrop, lanyard, livestream graphic, or piece of signage directing hundreds of people through a venue.
I designed and supported assets across digital and physical environments, working closely with the events team to make sure the branding felt cohesive, interactive, and practical in the real world. We considered how key branded elements would appear in photography and livestream footage, including stage backdrops and podium logo placement.
-
Designed to Engage
We wanted CCon’22 to feel like an experience, not just a conference. I partnered closely with the events team to develop branded elements that encouraged attendees to interact with the environment, including a graffiti-inspired interactive game and a signature wall where attendees could add their own tags while waiting to enter.
Messaging and content were also designed around the event’s larger goals: building excitement around Camunda 8.0, introducing “Process Orchestration” as a new category, and creating a strong sense of community after a long stretch of virtual events.
My Role
I was part of Camunda’s in-house creative team and partnered across marketing, events, and external vendors to bring CCon’22 from concept to physical event.
I took the lead on the event’s visual theme and contributed heavily to messaging and copywriting. I designed social promotion materials including speaker templates, advertising, and custom Zoom backgrounds, as well as the event website and email campaign headers.
I also owned the majority of the print design and production process. This involved collaborating with international vendors and maintaining a detailed Figma and Sheets documentation system to track every branded item, its specifications, production requirements, and placement.
I worked closely with the events team to ensure signage accurately reflected the event agenda and map, stages were clearly labeled, and every branded element was installed correctly. I also helped develop the visual system for speaker presentations, intermission slides, and the online event platform supporting Camunda’s first hybrid conference.
Across Every Touchpoint
The CCon’22 brand extended far beyond venue signage. I worked across digital campaigns, print and production, and interactive brand experiences to create a cohesive identity across every part of the conference. Throughout the process, I constantly considered how each piece would work as part of the larger event experience, including how attendees would encounter, photograph, interact with, and share the brand.

On-Site Execution
I arrived in Berlin ahead of the main event as a representative of the creative team, helping oversee the installation of the conference branding and ensuring signage was placed correctly throughout the venue.
For one of the more hands-on installations, we printed large quantities of custom event posters and intentionally ripped and layered them onto the walls to recreate the look of Berlin street posters. I took ownership of installing these pieces myself to achieve the intended effect.
Being there in person also meant I could troubleshoot unexpected production issues, coordinate with vendors and the events team, and make sure the physical environment matched the design intent.
CamundaCon 2022 Highlight Reel
From brand designer to accidental video director
The highlight reel was a collaborative effort between the events, creative, and an film teams. When a last-minute coordination gap left the film crew without anyone assigned to conduct speaker interviews, I stepped in to make sure the opportunity wasn’t lost.
With the crew already onsite, I quickly researched speakers, attended their sessions to understand their subject matter, developed interview questions on the fly, and built a schedule that allowed me to intercept speakers immediately after their presentations.
I also coordinated with the film crew to scout and rotate interview locations throughout the venue, creating visual variety while keeping the interviews connected to the larger conference environment.
My role included:
Researching speakers and developing interview topics and questions
Coordinating the filming schedule with the events team and camera crew
Creating a shot list for speakers, attendees, networking, venue branding, and environmental details
Scouting interview locations and recommending varied backgrounds
Interviewing speakers from behind the camera
Providing posing and speaking guidance to interviewees
Establishing narrative, visual, and tonal direction for the editing team
Reviewing edits and providing feedback throughout post-production
The resulting video combined speaker expertise and personal experiences with footage of the event, attendees, networking, and branded environments. It became post-event social content and was later used to help promote CamundaCon 2023.
